Listening
The National Writing Project kicked off National Poetry Month with Executive-Director Elyse Eidman-Aadahl urging us to listen for the poetry in each other as she notes that “poetry is all around us.” She suggests: “Let’s play, share, and listen to each other through poetry.”
I love the idea of going on a poetry scavenger hunt where we find poems in the grocery lists and commercial jingles and overheard conversations as well as the whisper of the wind through our pine trees and the sweet morning calls of birds. Just listen…and write.
