I read Frankenstein for the first time this year in preparation for the release of The Bride! Don’t judge me. I was an English major four times, but studied American Lit straight up the line. However, I am all in on Mary Shelley and her signature work. I believe it should be required reading at every stage of life or perhaps every decade? Today’s poem, Contemplating the Works of Mary Shelley, comes out of that influence and was also greatly shaped by the Lexington Poetry Gauntlet.
What are your monstrous fears? What primal forces do you struggle to escape?
