I used to consume a lot of news. I had two different podcast lists – one for daily/breaking news and another for deeper dives. Now I listen to audiobooks and music because no one benefits from the torture offered by staying abreast of current events. I have a few trusted podcasts on the deeper dive list that I will check in when I have the capacity so I am not completely tuned out. I am horrified and outraged by the current administration and supporters, but I also knew on election day that people would die and lives would be destroyed. Nothing about the leadup to that election makes me feel warmly about the Democratic Party. Kamala Harris was sacrificed so the powers-that-be could maintain their illusion of status quo power while the rest of us suffer and die. That is the sentiment behind today’s poem although it cannot capture my rage: Dear Democrats.
But I do not want to torture myself and will seek escape and solace in poetry, here is what caught my eye today on LexPoMo:
- To be a woman in this world
- Pretty Consignment Lady
- Revision Party Ars
- American Sentence LX
- Near an Old House
