Menacing

This prompt continues the previous prompt offering art as resistance, art as protest, art as action by using June Jordan’s I Must Become a Menace to My Enemies as the springboard for writing.

She dedicated her poem to the revolutionary poet and leader Agostinho Neto which in itself might be a prompt. What leader, what revolutionary, what artist do you want to lift up?

As always, lift a line or image or write in response to her call to action. I was particularly struck by these lines:

I will no longer lightly walk behind

and

I must become the action of my fate
