The Light of Life

April is National Poetry Month and while poetry is a part of my daily life and teaching practice I also love this annual reminder that as Audre Lorde taught us “poetry is not a luxury.” Last week when I sent the Rebel Cartographers our weekly writing invitation I included Once the World Was Perfect by Joy Harjo and then Lisa Martin shared Any Common Desolation by Ellen Bass. When we discussed and explored these poems in writing we loved the synergy. I know the piece that I wrote connected the two poems and thought others might enjoy the connection as well. Where do you find light in your life?
