What Needs Fixing?
What needs fixing in your life? What tools do you need to make those repairs?
For two weeks my first year writers have been preparing to write their own good faith arguments by first writing about the problems we encounter in our daily lives as move about our communities and then digging into those problems by exploring the symptoms, root causes, and ecosystems of those problems. After students began choosing the voices they want to invite to the conversation about possible solutions to their problem we focused on one question to begin their argument essays: what needs fixing?
For our writing we drew on Everything Needs Fixing by Karla Cordero and her beautiful poem inspired some fierce writing. Hope it works its magic on you as well.
