Deanna Mascle: Writing Evangelist

Professional Writing is the only course of its kind offered by my institution although upper level undergraduates can also take an advanced composition class and upper level creative writing.

Spring 2012 was my first opportunity to teach this class and I was assigned to it late as the result of schedule reshuffling so I had less room (or time) to design the class. My focus this semester is to continue working with students to become reflective and self-regulating writers as well as to increase their understanding of discourse community, audience, and genre. My focus will be more on function than form.
