The National Writing Project shared Jane Hirshfield’s “Why I Write” post complete with her poem Vest to kick off their National Poetry Month Pocket Poem project, but for me Hirshfield’s Vest makes me think about all the little parts of ourselves we have hidden away or stores for safekeeping and then forgotten because we put them away so thoroughly. It is a reminder that we are multitudes within ourselves and we forget this to our peril. Spend some time today writing and thinking about what you have hidden away in your pockets.

Don’t forget to share your writing using the #JustWrite hashtag and check out a new writing community the Morehead Writing Project formed to support us during these trying times.
