Poetry Month

This month I have been writing with Samar Jade as part of my Poetry Gauntlet work and before the month is out I will do so in person.
I am trying to be cool about this as after only a few pages of Blue Violet: Haint Spaces I was not only compelled to write in response to several lines of poetry but was also compelled to purchase copies of the book for some young people in my life. There will likely be more of both compulsions as I am not even halfway through the book yet because I need to stop to think and write so often. These poems written for LexPoMo in 2025 gives you just a taste: In the style of Glenis Redmond; Inheritance II; and luxuries of idleness. I am so moved and inspired by Samar Jade’s poetry.
Rebel Cartographer Lisa Martin also felt Ada Limón’s Instructions on Not Giving Up. Ada Limón always hits us where we live.
Rebel Cartographer Nancy Gourde shared Joy Harjo’s Perhaps the World Ends Here which has spoken to us many times before and will again.
What poems and poets are haunting you to write this month?
Catch up with my reading, watching, and writing reflections/check-ins.
