Snapshots

For this week (and two more weeks and counting) we have found inspiration in photographs. Our inspiration began with the poem mobile architecture by José Felipe Alvergue (and other related poems suggested on the same web page) and we picked photos of our families to inspire our writing. I brought this picture to our session because it captures such a specific moment in time that has always fascinated me even though its history is not so distant. I know exactly the location of this school house and I knew some of the people pictured. In fact, I am related to some of the people pictured. But in the end I did not write so much about the history of education or even that community but instead about the people I knew. When did you last dig through old photos to locate inspiration?
