What Do You Believe?
As my students draft their This I Believe essays, I challenged them as well as the Just Write virtual writing group to consider the question: What Do You Believe?
We drew our inspiration from two poems:
- Credo by Andrew Zawacki
- The Answer by Carl Sandburg
Both poets offer vivid imagery and intriguing metaphors as they explore their beliefs via these poetic offerings. Both poems inspired a great deal of discussion among each group of writers that responded to the invitation to write. I know I found many ideas to explore in my own writing.
When was the last time you asked yourself the simple question: what do you believe? Have you taken the time to explore your own credo and beliefs? What answers do you seek? What questions do you ask?
