Writing Through The Pandemic

Like much of America, indeed the world, I am now spending much more time at home. However, I just took a break from my busy day of working and dealing with the details of surviving a pandemic to spend some time writing and I can feel the physical effects. I am calmer and my blood pressure is lower. I emptied some of my worries and vented some of my rage onto the page. Those four journal pages might become something later, but they might not too. Either way it is OK because my respite served its purpose!
I am more grateful than I can say for my Morehead Writing Project community during this time, because together we have created a community of writers to sustain us during this difficult period. As my friend and MWP teacher-leader Liz Prather says: “This is an unprecedented time, and the lack of routine and normalcy can overwhelm us. We are writers, and therefore, we tend to feel things deeply and possibly overthink things. But writing is one of the best things we can do to restore and maintain our sanity and our routine. We will get through this, and we will do it with grace and toughness.”
If you need a community of writers please consider joining ours!
