2023 LexPoMo

LexPoMo is wrapped for 2023 and I am proud that I managed to post 17 poems thanks to the focus on poetry writing with my students and the Morehead Writing Project’s Small Poems, Great Writers work which allowed me to come into the challenge with some poems in my pocket. I am particularly pleased with the number of poems that I wrote during the month of June itself – especially considering how busy life and MoreheadWP kept me during the month. Many of those poems were inspired by the National Writing Project’s Write Across America. Thank you writing marathons! Some of those fresh poems are amongst my favorites.

In addition to posting 17 of 30 days, there were several days when I found the time to take a deep dive into the LexPoMo waterfall of poetry and locate five poems that caught my interest and/or pulled at my heartstrings. While the challenge to post poems brought me to LexPoMo, it is the conversation around the poetry that brings me back year after year. Here are some of the stops I took along the way:

I was also pleased to take this journey with several members of the Morehead Writing Project (extended) community:

These links are to their first poems but I hope to go back through to highlight my favorite of their poems when time allows!
