Ghosts

What haunts you? What people (living or dead) and ideas (living or dead) are a ghostly presence in your life?

This week the Just Write Virtual Writing Group wrote about ghosts and hauntings. We began our journey by considering how we mourn (or not) as a nation whether it comes to our war dead or the pandemic. We also considered how other cultures grieve and the costs of our collective failure to mourn.

We also considered how our hearts are haunted by people who have grown and changed over the course of our relationship drawing inspiration from Sarah Stewart Holland’s post about her son’s birthday. Exploring: Consider the important people in your universe: What tiny ghosts of your entwined past haunt you?

Another haunting idea was the simple phrase “ghost in the machine” as a metaphor as well as the album by The Police.

Our final inspiration came from two ghostly poems:

What people (living or dead) and ideas (living or dead) haunt you?
